It was a busy but wonderful summer weekend. Saturday dawned beautiful but cool. I made myself a cup of coffee to-go and headed uptown to the first Antique Market of the summer. This takes place under a large pavilion and all around the grounds of the Farmstead Inn and Antique Gallery.
Beautiful outdoor booths filled with tempting wares.
Quilts, furniture, collectibles, you name it!
It really was a perfect day for it.
Next, I drove about 10 minutes east to the very small town of Howe, IN. Howe is a tiny, tiny town but they have a wonderful Farmer’s Market in the summer. It is just getting started this year.
It all takes place under the Lion’s Club Pavilion in the Town Park and on the grass surrounding it.
There are quite a few Amish vendors. As you can see there were several empty tables as the growing season is just beginning. I bought a quart of strawberries and a pint of sugar snap peas. They also have plants right now. The last thing I needed was another tomato plant but I couldn’t resist one called “Purple Beauty”. It is a cherry tomato that is suppose to be red with purple and green stripes. We shall see…..
ALL afternoon was spent cleaning house and getting ready to host my niece’s Bridal Shower the next day. I fell into bed at 11:00 p.m.
The sign led the way:
I found the idea for this beautiful door decoration on Pinterest (of course!).
It really was quite easy. The flowers are silk and came from my stash in the basement storage room! Real ones were considered but I was afraid if it was a warm day that they would expire from hanging against a hot door.
And here is the beautiful bride-to-be, Paige. Her wedding colors are Navy and Coral. Thirty six years ago this month, I was a young bride preparing for my own wedding. My colors were light blue and peach. (Great minds think alike, just in different shades. ☺) That smile—so sweet! She is a Registered Nurse and will make a wonderful bride, wife and someday a momma to her own children.
Everything was delicious!
Lots of fun was had as we ate, reminisced about our own wedding days, and oohed and aahed over all the beautiful things she got to set up housekeeping in her own home.
I will have to get out my own wedding album later this month and share some photos from my wedding day. Right now I need to head on out to the garage and get ready for the garage sale we are having this week. No rest for the weary!
