I attended a book signing last month. It was for a new book by Susan Branch that is titled, “A Fine Romance”. She is one of my faves. I went back and forth with myself: should I go, should I not go, should I go, should I not go…..I went. In one 3 minute conversation, the last 4 years of my life were summed up in a neat and tidy package by someone I do not even know. Four years ago, I set out on the adventure of opening my own coffee shop and café: Morton Street Coffee.
I had a dream, a vision, I created it and people came. And then reality hit. I have to do this every day! Susan Branch related to me a similar experience of her own in opening a store front business. She said, the fun was in the creating of it but I didn’t want to work there everyday. It was like an epiphany. That is what happened to Morton Street Coffee folks! My joy was in the creating of, not in the day to day working of it. Something so simple to see was explained to me by a complete stranger in one sentence. I will love her forever for that.
And so I set the tone for this blog of mine: something new and exciting every time. It can be about whatever creative bug has bitten me at the time.
- Food (this is first on the list because I am hungry right now)
- Sewing and Crafting
- The Adventures of Frank and Vanessa
- Shipshewana, the town I call home
I have had people asking me when this blog is going to start. I found a quote today that explains it perfectly:
” I am for everything starting into full-blown perfection at once.” Susan Edmonstone Ferrier
So let’s get started on this adventure and please bear with me as I learn the ropes.
