I know…….I have been absent for a long while. The dreariness of winter has set in my bones–it is my least favorite season. The bitter temps and snow have taken their toll. The best part of winter is knowing that it will end. I have been doing so much sitting around that I have had to join the Fitness Center. I have always had a job that has kept me on my feet all day. Those jobs have ended and now I am doing so much sitting that my bones are protesting! I am going to the Fitness Center three times per week and going around the circuit of machines that they have set up 3X at 15 reps per time and then walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes. This all takes an hour, driving time included. I just started this 2 weeks ago and I already feel so much better. It works wonders for winter doldrums! My tendonitis and achy joints are also reaping the benefits. But…….I will be so glad when I can do my walking and excersising outside.
Frank and Vanessa are also bored out of their gourds! They have been doing a lot of this—–
Frank has decided this chair in the living room provides a prime vantage point to the goings on of the household.
Miss Vanessa is into lounging around no matter what the weather.
Frank takes very seriously his duties of seeing to the “Queen’s” needs. He is always mindful of making sure her face is clean.
I decided to make them dog treats one day last week. That is always a big hit. It was last Wednesday when it looked like this when I got up:
Look how close the snow has gotten to the bottom of the feeder! When we got up and saw this, we decided that dog treats and lounging were in order.
The snow in the driveway was up to my knees–I wasn’t going anywhere. I couldn’t even get the trash can out to the end of the road for trash pick-up.
I decided to make the treats in a Noah’s Ark theme because as the temperatures warm up and ALL this snow melts, we may need a boat! Of course, the dogs could care less what shape they come in. The cuteness only matters to the baker.
Among other news, I have gotten a job!!!!! It is perfect. I only work about 3 hours per afternoon. This gives me my morning to putz around or run errands and am still able to be home in good time to make a decent supper for the “king of the castle”. You know what they say, “The man is the king of the castle until the queen comes home.” Love it!
One of the other things I have been enjoying this winter is re-reading a series of books that I collect. It is the “Tea Shop Mystery” series by Laura Childs. Book 15 will be coming out soon–next month, I think. I decided to start back at the beginning and read through them all. I am really enjoying it. By the time a series reaches 15, the books characters seem like real people to you. I am an avid tea drinker and the books also have recipes in the back for scones and muffins and new tea-time treat ideas.
I am currently reading “The Silver Needle Murder”.
Our church had a carry-in to celebrate National Pie Day recently and I made a delicious creation by the name of Banana Ganache Pie. I want to fine tune the recipe a bit before I post it. That is all for now folks!
Hi-Ho Hi-Ho, it’s off to work I go.
