My unfinished Christmas Project whose tardiness was blamed on Frank and Vanessa, has been completed and delivered so I am at liberty to share it with all of you. It was a purse for my mother-in-law.
I actually did the quilting of the fabric myself on my machine! I have been trying to do some quilting on my machine for over a year now, determined that I could figure it out and do it without special equipment–HA! I finally gave up on that notion and took my machine in to the store where I purchased it and they set me right up with the right foot and presto, it worked seamlessly. It is a wonder what you can do with the right equipment. ☺ The attachments were a bit of an investment but I know that I will use them over and over in the future. I have now moved onto a new project. I am making a Father Christmas doll out of the Homemade & Happy book by Tone Finnanger.
WHAT I AM READING: Strawberry Point by Florence Roe Wiggins
It is a book of memories that begin with the founding of Strawberry Point, Iowa in the late 1800’s. Each chapter is a memory or story of its’ own so it is a good book to be able to pick up and put down as desired. No need to feel compelled to read through to the end because of an ongoing story line. Strawberry Point is still there with a population of around 1600 people.
QUOTE FOR THE DAY: There is always one moment in childhood when the door opens and lets the future in.
Graham Greene, The Power and the Glory
This set me on a little journey back in mind to my own childhood. As a young girl of maybe 10 (?), my mother took me to Maley’s Five and Dime and in Goshen, IN and we picked out a pre-stamped embroidery design. It was a small piece to put on a tabletop and it was of bluebirds. My love of embroidery and all things sewing and crafting was born! There have been other loves that perhaps I will share someday but this is the one that has stuck with me and grown throughout the past almost 50 years. When was your moment?
Other than that, the dogs and I are in hibernation except when we have to emerge out of necessity. There is a whole lot of THIS going on in the world of Frank and Vanessa:
A lot of this interspersed with super quick trips outside to potty and of course anything to do with food.
