I have been venturing to Howe, IN every Saturday morning to attend their small but quaint Farmer’s Market again this summer. And guess what is new this year? A COFFEE SHOP! That is right! It is located under the pavilion and goes by the name of Huckleberries.
The cutest, smiling and friendly people are behind Huckleberries. From what they tell me, this is just a hint of what is to come. They will be opening at their permanent location on Spring St. in LaGrange, IN this fall after the Farmer’s Market is done for the season. In the meantime, they are learning the ropes here. I am so excited for them. If you have time, visit the market on Saturday mornings for fresh produce, cheese, baked goods, etc. and get yourself a cup of coffee, frappe, or lemonade while you are there from Huckleberries.
I opted for their signature blend: Huckleberry Coffee. They buy their beans from a roaster in Washington state, if I remember correctly, and the beans are ground along with dried huckleberries and it is DELICIOUS! I also brought home a blueberry muffin for my hubs. You can even get a Huckleberry Lemonade! Can you tell how excited I am about this?!! I hope the best for them in pursuing their dream.
As we are just into the summer growing season, the produce is just beginning. I brought home sugar snap peas and strawberries.
Let me try to remember what all I saw Saturday…..
Strawberries, peas, lettuce, green onions, rhubarb, fresh eggs, plants, baked goods, goat cheese, pasture-raised meat, crafts, and COFFEE! Of course, the produce will be more prolific as we go. The Lion’s club was also there firing up the grill to make some Pork Burgers and raise some funds.
