It is very quiet this morning. School has started here. There are quite a few teachers in my neighborhood and lots of kids so now that school has started it seems extremely quiet. I never thought it was all that noisy but there is something different about the lack of comings and goings of the families. To me it is both wonderful and sad: wonderful that the kids are all growing, moving up a grade, making new friends and learning new things. Sad that summer will soon be over.
Just a few pictures of some of the beauty of summer from my backyard…
Window boxes full of impatients and ruffled begonias. LOVE the ruffled begonias…..
In an earlier post, I had taken a picture of this old door I was training my morning glories to climb. It turned out beautiful…..
The lilies that grow among the mint behind my pitcher-pump pond…..
A bouquet gathered along the roadside while taking a walk…..
The first handful of sungold tomatoes…..
The Old Whiskey Barrel that I planted with a hodgepodge of leftover plants that has turned out beautiful…..
And the hydrangeas….SWOON!…..my absolute favorite flower. I have one that is 12 inches across!
Frank and Vanessa relaxing in the shade by the pond after a walk and a romp in the field behind our house.
I am so very blessed here in my little piece of paradise. I have been blessed with the eyes to see it and the ability to stroll around through it and I am enjoying every minute of it. It seems mind boggling that heaven rivals anything here on earth. Take time out of the busyness of life to take a stroll and enjoy the beginning of the end of the sweetness of summer. Only 39 days until the official start of fall but only a few short weeks until we turn the page on the calendar to September.
