We had a wonderful time in South Haven, MI this past weekend. This now yearly reunion was for my side of the family. I have three brothers, two older and one younger. My Dad passed away in 2001 and my mom is remarried to a wonderful fella by the name of Art that happened to live across the street from her. All of the siblings were able to be there and their spouses minus one spouse that had to stay home to take care of things there, four grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The grand total for our 2014 reunion weekend was 14.
And guess what? I forgot my camera!!! Of course I did as this is what I am known for. So all the pictures from the weekend were taken by my mom and Art and my sister-in-law, Karen.
We stayed at the Sun n Sand Resort on the Blue Star Highway. It was built in the 1920’s and has been recently renovated but not so much that it has lost all of its’ old fashioned charm. The main building is two story and every room is just a little bit different. Then there are several single story buildings also for a total of just 33 rooms. It was a wonderful place for a family reunion. They have a wonderful salt water pool which I fail to have a picture of for you. Why? Because I forgot my camera, remember…..
They have a beautiful Farmers Market every Saturday morning with fresh produce, baked goods, flowers, and homemade items.
Then it was off to the Dune Rides in Saugatuck, Michigan. We have done this before but to our estimation it was seven years ago. We all thoroughly enjoyed it but for the great grandchildren that got to sit in the front with the driver, it was top notch!
Later on as we were walking the pier out to the lighthouse, we saw a Tall Ship come in and decided that next year we are going to see if we can all take a cruise on it for our special entertainment.
Peyton (a.k.a. “The Claw”) and the two bathing beauties below say “Toodles” and see you next year too!
