What a wonderful Saturday to get the last of the yard work done!
I know a lot of you have been missing your favorite Turkey and Cucumber sandwich from Morton Street Coffee so I am going to divulge the secret . This way you can keep all the ingredients on hand and make them whenever you have a hankering! Let’s start off with the cast of characters:
Here they are. You will need 3 slices of deli turkey-whatever kind you prefer, onion slices, 4 cucumber slices, sliced tomato, lettuce, and a pretzel bun. I have found the buns at two locations: Hardings in Middlebury and Meijer in Goshen. If you have found them elsewhere, leave a comment so other sandwich builders will know. I buttered the bun and browned the cut sides for extra crunch and deliciousness. Now, let’s get started building our sandwich:
Start with the turkey and arrange as you wish. I folded mine up to make a nice, thick layer.
Now take your four slices of cucumber and lay them on top of the turkey. Moving right along…..
Take your tomato slices now and put them on top of the cucumber.
If it is safe to eat onions today put a few rings of onion on now. But if you are having a date tonight or if you are making this to take to work or on your way to the dentist or going to an important meeting or………..you may want to forgo the onion. I love onion on mine!
Okay, now for the sauce. It is just Hidden Valley Ranch. We always made our own at the coffee shop. Get a package of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix, add milk and mayo and you are set to go. Keep it in a squeezy bottle in the refrigerator. The onion rings help to keep the dressing contained and from running down and off onto the plate. See…there is a method to my order of ingredients!
Last but not least, is a small handful of greens and the top of the bun. We’re almost ready for the best part…eating it!
Ooh lala! I think it is lunch time…..see ya!
