2017 is drawing to a close! Where does the time go? My last post was WAY back at the beginning of the year and I was starting a kitchen remodel. I never checked back in for the reveal because it still needs a few things but I will have it done soon…..
Last Christmas, I made this stocking for my daughter-in-law, Jen.
This year, I made one for my oldest grandson, Jacob, who turned 9 one week before Christmas.
I managed to finish it and get it in the mail on December 19th!!–whew!
My mom suggested the train theme and I eventually managed to come up with the pattern but it laid on the kitchen counter for a week before I could get it into my head as to how to put the train on the stocking and have it look right. This is why you pay good money for a pattern—someone has done all of the thinking for you! ☺
I am working on other projects as well and I promise to bring you an update on that before long.
Do you have any New Years resolutions this year? I have two: be a better pen pal to the poor soul that agreed to be my pen pal and never gets any mail and to do a better job at updating this blog of mine.
If you are in need of some fun, free, and chilly winter activities this weekend, come on over to Shipshewana, IN and enjoy the Ice Festival that is going on. There are lots of ice sculptures around town. If you read this pronto, you may be able to make it over for the annual Chili cook-off at noon! With the frigid temperatures forecasted to continue, you should be able to take in the ice sculptures for quite awhile before they melt away. I took pictures of two of the large sculptures on my way home last night.
Those of you familiar with Shipshewana, probably know that this one is at E&S Sales. I love this one. This horse statue sits in there parking lot all year and someone had the brilliant idea of having an Ice Sculpture Amish man leading him!
This Nutcracker is standing in front of Yoder’s Shopping Center on SR 5. It is magnificent!
There are lots and lots of sculptures around town but these are the only two that I took pictures of—come on over and see the rest of them!
Per usual, there is lots of this going in:
Have a wonderful year end as the last few days of 2017 fade away—make them count! And as we usher in 2018, lets all vow to make it the best year yet!
